Dr. Santosh Pillai is a board-certified psychiatrist and serves as Medical Director of Guiding Light Psychiatry. With more than 18 years of clinical experience, he specializes in diagnosing and treating a broad range of mental health conditions, combining evidence-based medicine with a compassionate, patient-centered approach. Widely respected by both patients and colleagues, Dr. Pillai is recognized for his dedication to providing thoughtful, individualized care that promotes long term wellness and recovery.
Born in Kerala, India, and raised in Warren, Michigan, Dr. Pillai developed an early passion for understanding human behavior and mental health. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Michigan and a Master of Science in Basic Medical Science from Wayne State University. He went on to receive his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from A.T. Still University Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine before completing his residency training in psychiatry at the renowned Henry Ford Health System in Detroit, Michigan. Further advancing his expertise, he completed a fellowship in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy through the Michigan Psychoanalytic Institute.
Throughout his career, Dr. Pillai has cultivated extensive experience in inpatient psychiatry, consultation-liaison psychiatry, and advanced psychiatric treatment modalities.
